We reject the commodified, hollow Pride manufactured by the corporations of finance capital and weaponized by the military-industrial complex of Western imperialism. From Bay Street and TD Bank, whose coffers swell with the spoils of imperialism, to the Toronto Police Service and the Canadian Armed Forces, who defend the interests of Canadian capital at home and abroad, the Canadian bourgeoisie and its agents eagerly wrap themselves in the colours of rainbow capitalism. Yet beneath this performance of inclusion, Canadian capital enriches itself through the super-exploitation of workers in the Third World while continuing to discipline and extract value from workers at home. Black and Indigenous workers in the core remain disproportionately subjected to underemployment, state murder, policing, and incarceration. We must see through this circus.
Today, the bourgeoisie employs pinkwashing, the practice of using support for LGBTQ+ rights to distract from or legitimize oppression and exploitation. By commodifying queer identity, it functions as a specialized ideological weapon of class rule, manufacturing false consciousness, sanitizing imperialist aggression, and obscuring the internal contradictions of capitalism in decline. From Turtle Island to Palestine, rainbow flags flutter above the rubble of occupied lands; states built on the blood of Indigenous peoples and the exploitation of oppressed workers. We see the bodies and bloodshed, we cannot look away.
This deceptive strategy perpetuates a chauvinistic myth that locates human liberation exclusively within the borders of the imperial core. This narrative inflicts a violent historical erasure upon the racialized proletariat of the Third World. It systematically obscures the material reality that European colonialism violently super-imposes the rigid gender binaries onto many of these societies in the form of the nuclear family structure, and punitive anti-sodomy laws, to consolidate imperial control and streamline the extraction of surplus value.
Queer workers in the imperial core must refuse to allow our lives to serve as the pink shield for finance capital and its death machine. We reject the bribes of the Western labour aristocracy that trades domestic legal reform, funded by the super-profits extracted from the hyper-exploitation of Third World workers, for our political compliance. Legal recognition by a bourgeois-dictatorship state is not liberation; it is an assimilationist trap designed to domesticate revolutionary potential.
Therefore, the primary task of queer workers residing within the imperial core is to wage unyielding class war from within the belly of the beast. Sitting at the central nodes of global logistics, finance, and imperial management, our historic duty is the overthrow of the bourgeois state. Because queer oppression is structurally hardwired into the capitalist mode of production, which relies on the nuclear family to privatize the social reproduction of labor, it cannot be reformed away to serve the working class. The struggle for queer survival is dialectically inseparable from the overthrow of private property, imperialism, and settler colonialism. We declare that queer liberation can only come through anti-imperialist class war, a disciplined, vanguard-led internationalist assault to smash the bourgeois state apparatus from within, and erect a socialist world where human life is liberated from the tyranny of the commodity form.
